College life has begun! I am officially into full swing of things, being an RA, working with our leadership department, taking 16 credits, and all trying to be a human at the same time. THIS IS NOT EASY. Let alone is it easy to focus on what I am eating, or even to care about what I am eating.
I know those moments where you just need an energy booster or the only thing in the vending machines are sodas and chips. I know the feeling of dying hunger while the only thing available is PIZZA.
Here are some tips to live a Paleo Lifestyle in college:
1. BE PREPARED: go to Target or the closest Walmart and fill up on actual snacks that you can eat. This might seem like a lot of money at one time but lets think about how many dollars you end up putting into a vending machine everyday or how much none you blow at Starbucks? (I am guilty of this one) If you leave your dorm room with healthy Paleo snacks for the day and a wonderful eco-friendly reusable water bottle then YOU WILL NOT CHEAT! It is an almost 100% guarantee that this will work as long as you are prepare along with some will power.
Here are some of my go to snacks (from Target):
Archer Farms Cashew, Cranberry, and Almonds:

Just to name a few :)
2. BE COMMITTED: (I know I'll probably over state this again and again...but) Seriously, if you are committed to this lifestyle change and believe in the well being of your own body then you will succeed! If you absolutely know with all of your right mind that you cannot make a drastic lifestyle change right now, then DON'T. It is better for you to be able to fully commit than trying to be "half Paleo" or "paleo for just one week." ALL IN OR NOTHING!
3. STAY ORGANIZED. Just in general, stay organized with your studies and duties. This will make your life less stressful and allow you to focus on things that may take more thought than you suspected. (ex: Paleo) Some ways that I stay organized is by using agendas, sticky notes (if you think of it, WRITE IT DOWN), google calendar, and more. Taking care of yourself should always be your PRIORITY. If you fall apart so will all of your work and everyone that relies on YOU!
Well welcome to college life and good luck with your Fall Semester! I know you need it :)
