1 COMMON QUESTION: How do I eat out and remain Paleo while everyone else around me consumes all the foods I crave?
First off to answer this question I will say this, GET PAST THE FIRST 2 WEEKS. After you have trained your body to only crave Paleo and to realize the awful stomach ache or headache you will receive after consuming non-Paleo foods this task will become easy. Eventually your body will only want Paleo and your brain will sync along with its desires. Don't think that just because everyone else is downing a pizza that you are forced to join in. (unless you haven't eaten all day and it is the only food available, go for it but in small portions) Most restaurants have customizable menus were you can turn any dish into Paleo.
Here are some examples from some of my recent outings and vacations:

This was a lovely Thai restaurant right by the water in Old Town Alexandria, VA. When it comes to Asian foods I recommend finding any meat that is cooked, but not breaded, with veggies and a sauce. (Try to avoid any Soy Sauces; just ask the server) This is quite easy with most dishes just be sure to avoid the rice ahead of time by not letting them even bring it to the table.
Zoe's Kitchen is an amazing restaurant which I believe can be found throughout the United States. I began eating there when I just wanted a healthy meal because they have vegetarian and vegan options. When it comes to the Paleo it is quite simple. I ordered the Chicken Kabobs without the rice and pita bread. This resulted in receiving a huge salad instead and this tasted amazing! They have an all natural dressing that is placed at every table and will make your mouth water. (Please ignore my boyfriend's non-Paleo plate behind mine.) |
Oh, Virginia Beach. Virginia is for Lovers...and SEAFOOD. I recently went of vacation with my boyfriend and there was one place we had to stop at (actually we went twice.) It was Harpoon Larry's Oyster Bar on 24th Street in VA Beach. This place tastes TO DIE FOR! Here I had their "Not-So-Huge" Combo for only $13 for all the seafood assortments you see on my plate. This was a steal for me and extremely Paleo Friendly! |
So there it is, living proof that you can eat out and enjoy time with your friends and loved ones without having a heart attack or starving! I hope this gives you more confidence in taking on this lifestyle change and to reveal to you how easy it really can be!
